Appendix D: Steps to Perform Installation in Unattended Mode

The unattended mode is particularly useful when we need to perform installation through an automated process. That way, the user will not be prompted for any inputs and the default values configured for each of the parameters in the .options file will be considered.

This section outlines the steps that a user needs to execute for installing DSM Administrator and the supported IDPs in unattended mode.

Install DSM Administrator

To install DSM Administrator, perform the following steps:

  1. In Distributed Node, download the“DgSecure-<x.x.x.x>-windows-x64-installer.exe” andDgSecure-<x.x.x.x>-windows-x64-installer.exe.options” files on your local machine.

  2. Open the file using any editor and configure the values for the parameters defined in the .options file as you deem fit. For your reference, see the below screenshot:

*Note: All the parameters with ‘#’ sign are comments. To make the parameters effective, remove ‘#’ sign from the beginning.

  3. Change the installer mode to ‘unattended’. By default, the mode is set to ‘win32. If you opt for unattended mode, installation will be done automatically, and user will not be prompted for any inputs.

  4. Save the file with the updated values.

  5. Now, copy this file to the machine on which you want to install the DSM Administrator.

*Note: In Distributed Node, you must copy both ‘DgSecure-<x.x.x.x>-windows-x64-installer.exe’ and ‘DgSecure-<x.x.x.x>-windows-x64-installer.exe.options’ files to the machine to successfully execute the file. Otherwise, the installer will throw an exception.

  6. Run the DgSecure-<x.x.x.x>-windows-x64-installer.exe file by either double clicking the file or using command prompt.

The DSM Administrator will be installed under the same directory which you have specified in the .options file.

The .exe file and .options file should be of same name. If you have provided a different name to the .options file, then use the below command to execute the file:

-start DgSecure-<x.x.x.x>-windows-x64-installer.exe --optionfile DgSecure-<x.x.x.x>-windows-x64-installer.exe.options:

Install IDP

To install any IDP:

  1. Copy both ‘DgSecure<IDPName>-<x.x.x.x>-windows-x64-installer.exe and ‘DgSecure<IDPName>-<x.x.x.x>-windows-x64-installer.exe.options’ files to the machine to successfully execute the file. Otherwise, the installer will throw an exception.

  2. Execute the .exe file for the IDP by either double clicking the file or using command prompt.
For example, to execute the file for Discover IDP, use the command depicted in the screenshot:

The IDP will be installed under the same directory which you have specified in the .options file.

The .exe file and .options file should be of same name. If you have provided a different name to the .options file, then use the below command to execute the file:

 start DgSecureDiscoverIDP-<x.x.x.x>-windows-x64-installer.exe --optionfile DgSecureDiscoverIDP-<x.x.x.x>-windows-x64-installer.exe.options
