BigQuery- Google Cloud

In BigQuery, Task Definition screen appears when you click Tasks in navigation panel. This page offers in-depth details about the tasks that the user has permission to view. To access the Task Definition screen, click Google Cloud > BigQuery > Tasks.

Select cluster from the Select Cluster drop-down. IDP Status can be seen on the top right corner of this tab (Active/Inactive).

The below screenshot displays the user interface of the Task Definition tab.

  1. Task List
    This panel displays the lists all the tasks for which you have permission to view. Selecting a task in this panel display additional information in the Task Details, Table Selected, and Task Instances tab.

    There are few other common controls through which you can sort the values in the column header, filter the data, download the results in CSV or PDF format, etc. To know more, visit Common Controls.


    You can use the following controls displayed on the screen:

    1. Edit: To edit a task, click Pen icon in the Actions column. This option will navigate you to the Edit Task Definition screen where you can update information for the selected task.

    2. Hide: Click Hide icon in the Actions column to hide a task. If Show Hidden Items option is checked in the User Preferences, the task will appear as greyed out else it will not be visible on the screen. To know more, visit Home Page.

    3. Show: Click Show icon in the Actions column to unhide a task. This feature allows you to view the hidden tasks. If you have checked the Show Hidden Items checkbox in the User Preferences, the hidden task will appear greyed out else it will not be visible on the screen. To know more, visit Home Page.

    4. Delete: To delete a task, click trash icon in the Actions column. This will delete the task from the screen.

    5. Execute: Click forward icon in the Actions column to execute the task. This will trigger the task.

  2. Task Details
    This panel display the basic details about the task in Details tab and the list of all sensitive types selected for scanning in the Sensitive Type Details tab.

    1. The Details tab display information about the task such as the date and time when the task was last executed and details the task's composition. The other displayed parameters include: the type of task that is performed — detection/protection, the selected policies, the name of task, etc.

    2. Task Details

      This panel display the basic details about the task in Details tab and the list of all sensitive types selected for scanning in the Sensitive Type Details tab.

      The Details tab display information about the task such as the date and time when the task was last executed and details the task's composition. The other displayed parameters include: the type of task that is performed — detection/protection, the selected policies, the name of task, etc.


      The Sensitive Type Details tab displays list of all sensitive types selected for scanning.


      If Protection is selected in the Task Type, then the UI of this panel displays additional information about the protection option selected for masking and its consistent value (True/False).

  3. Table Selected
    This panel displays list of all the tables selected to scan, for the chosen task in Task List panel. It displays the information for the selected dataset which includes details for the selected columns and the tables.

     
    If you have selected entire table, then the Column Name will display * (star) next to each Table Name column. If you have selectively made choice for the columns in any table, then the column name will be displayed in the Column Name.

     
    If Detection is chosen as the Task Type, then it displays the name of all tables selected for scanning, along with the Column Name and the Project ID.


    In case Protection is chosen as the Task Type, this panel will display additional information about the sensitive types that need to be masked in the selected table. It will also display details about the domain to which it is associated, along with the datatype of the column.

  4. Task Instances
    This panel displays the list of all the instances of a task which have been executed. It displays brief information about each instance of the task such as ID (system generated), Task Name, Status of the task, Start time and End time, and Executed By.
