This is the default tab which is displayed on selecting the Results page in the navigational bar. Based on the selection of the cluster made in the Select Cluster drop-down, the By Task screen gets populated.


The By Task screen is divided into two panels:

  1. Task Instances
    This panel displays information for all the instances of the task that have been executed. It displays information such as, ID (system generated), Task Name, Status, Start Time, End Time, Instance Hostname etc.


    There are few common functionalities through which you can sort the values in the column header, filter the data, download the results in CSV or PDF format, etc. To know more, visit Common Controls.

    1. Pause: This functionality allows you to pause a running task. Follow the below steps for pausing a task.

      1. Select a running task in the Task Instances panel and click Pause button displayed under the Actions column.

      2. A pop-up appears with a message saying, “Do you want to pause this task?” with option YES or NO.

      3. Click YES, if you want to pause the task. Otherwise, click NO.

    2. Resume: If the task is paused, the user can resume the task by clicking the Resume button displayed under the Actions column.

    3. Refresh: To refresh the Task Instances panel with updated information, click the Refresh button. It refreshes the data in the panel with the latest data.

    4. Re-execute: To execute a task again, click the Re-execute button displayed under the Actions column. The Re-execute button creates a new instance of the task when clicked.

    5. Clear Filter: To remove any applied filters from the column headers of the Task Instances panel, click the Clear Filter button.

    6. Queue for Results Review: Click this Queue button under the Actions column to queue the task for result review workflow. Using this option, the user can queue the task for results review, manually.

      *Note:  The Queue for Results Review button will appear only for Detection task. To Know more about results review workflow in both Linux and Windows environment, refer to section Enable Results Review in Linux and Enable Results Review in Windows.

      Once the task has been queued for review, the value for the results review can be seen in the Task Instances Panel under the Remediated column which specify the values as Y or N.

      *Note: To queue the task for results review workflow automatically, set the value of AUTO QUEUE FOR RESULTS REVIEW to YES under SETTINGS in Admin console.

    7. Reviewed Results: Check the Reviewed Results checkbox, to see if the results for the selected task have been reviewed or not. Checking this checkbox will add a column named Results Review Status in the Detailed Results tab, on selecting Structured Results drop-down in the Overview panel. The value in this column displays whether the selected result is reviewed or not.

      *Note:

      1. The Results Review Status column is visible in the Detailed Results tab only when you select Sensitive Data Type radio button for Structured Results.

      2. The Reviewed Results checkbox will not appear if encryption process is performed on data.

    8. With Results: Check this checkbox to view only those task instances in the Task Instances panel for which the results get displayed. Upon checking the checkbox, the Task Instances panel displays only those tasks for which, the Overview panel display results.

    9. Hide: Click the Hide button displayed under the Actions column to hide the task instance. You can also hide the selected task by clicking the Hide Selected option available under the 3 Dot icon.

      *Note: If you have checked the Show Hidden Items checkbox in the User Preferences, then the hidden task will appear greyed out, else it will not be visible on the screen.

    10. Show: Click Show icon in the Actions column to unhide the selected task. You can also, unhide the selected task by clicking the Show Selected option available under the Three Dot icon.

  2. Overview
    This panel gives exhaustive information about the selected task and provides all the necessary information needed while reviewing a task instance. The tab in this panel depends on the Task Type selected in the Add New Task Definition screen. This panel provides detailed information about the tasks executed with detection and protection processes. The following tabs are displayed under this panel:

    1. Task Overview
      This panel displays the summary of the task selected in the Task Instances panel.

      1. Details: This sub-tab displays the basic details about the task such as, Task name, Task Description, Created By, Last Executed On, Scan Type, Create Metadata Info File, Sync Results with Privacy, Task Type, Skip file with no extension, Polices Selected etc.

      2. Included Scan Locations: This sub-tab displays the list of all the file/directory locations which have been selected for scanning. It also displays additional information such as the Homogeneous Type and File Type of the selected location. The Scan Location column displays the absolute path of the selected file/directory.

      3. Excluded Scan Location: This sub-tab displays the list of all selected scan locations and the file extensions which need to be excluded while scanning process.

      4. Sensitive Type Details: This sub-tab displays the list of all the Sensitive Type associated with the task as per the selection made in the Task Instance panel.

    2. Result Overview
      This tab gives a graphical summary of the detection and encryption results for the task selected in the Task Instance panel. The information displayed in the graph changes based on the selected Task Type.

      1. Detection: In case of Detection task type, the information is displayed in form of graphs.

        1. The first chart shows the number of structured or unstructured files detected.

        2. The second chart shows the count of sensitive and non-sensitive files encountered as well as the total number of files skipped during the process.

        3. The third chart shows the sensitive type encountered in the selected files as well as the count of each sensitive type detected.

        4. The fourth chart shows the format of the file detected for the selected directory. Hovering over the chart displays the count of the file type. 

      2. Encryption: In case of Encryption task type, the information is displayed in the form of graph. 

        1. The first chart shows the number of files searched and masked during the encryption process.

        2. The second chart shows the count of sensitive items detected during the encryption process.

        3. The third chart shows the sensitive type encountered in the selected files as well as it shows the count of each sensitive type encountered with in it.

    3. Detailed Results
      This tab allows the user to view structured and unstructured results containing details for the sensitive data. The user can further view these results for sensitive data group and sensitive data type. You can choose to view results for Structured Results and Unstructured/Semi Unstructured Results by selecting the option from the drop-down displayed prior to the Sensitive Data Group radio button.

      1. Unstructured/Semi Unstructured Results
        In Unstructured/Semi Unstructured Results, the user can view the detailed results for the unstructured files at both sensitive data group and sensitive data type level. It displays the hit count for each Sensitive Data Group and Sensitive Data Type encountered for a selected file or directory. It also displays information such as, Task Name, File Type, File Owner etc.

        *Note: In case of Detection in Unstructured files, complete scanning is performed.

      2. Structured Results

        In Structured Results, the user can view the detailed results for the structured files at both sensitive data group and sensitive data type level.

        The + Review Results button allows the user to review any Structured Results in Detailed Results tab. You can mark the records as non-sensitive or sensitive and can also increase or decrease the confidence factor.

        *Note: This button is visible only for Structured Results when Sensitive Data Type option is selected.

        Perform the following steps to review any result:

        1. Select a record in the Detailed Result tab and click the + Review Results button.

        2. On clicking the button, a pop-up will appear. Now, enter the details for Results Review Action and Results Review Value (%) fields.


          Following are the options in Results Review Action field.

          1. Mark as Non-Sensitive: Select this option to mark the record as Non-Sensitive. The system ignores these records in future re-execution of the task.

          2. Mark as Correct: Select this option to mark the record as Sensitive. The system does not ignore these records in future re-execution of the task.

          3. Decrease the Confidence Factor: Select this option to decrease the confidence factor in Results Review Value (%) field.

          4. Increase the Confidence Factor: Select this option increase the confidence factor in Results Review Value (%) field. 

        3. The Results Review Value (%) field will be enabled when Decrease Confidence Percentage or Increase Confidence Percentage is selected in the Results Review Action field. Enter the Results Review value in percentage. This field will be enabled when you select Decrease or Increase the Confidence Factor in the Results Review Action field.

    4. Non-Sensitive Scanned Files
      This tab displays the list of all the files which contain non-sensitive data and are scanned during the task execution. It displays the path, format, size, owner, and date of modification in the file.

    5. Skipped Files
      This tab displays the list of all the files which were skipped during the process. This tab displays information about the file such as, Path of the File, File Type, Reasons for Skipping the File, Date of Modification, and File Owner.

    6. Logs
      The Logs tab displays the list of all the errors occurred during the task execution. The logs get populated when the task gets completed with errors or failed due to the errors. It displays the error description with the file name and directory path.

    7. Results
      This tab displays summary of the encryption and masking processes. It provides the complete path for the encrypted file which contains the masked data. Apart from the Sensitive Data Group name, it also gives details about the task such as, Task Name, Hit Count, File Path, AES Masked, and Incremental Scan.

    8. Detailed Results
      This tab displays the detailed results for the task selected in the Task Instances panel. It displays the task details in which the Sensitive Data Group was masked. It also displays the File Path of the encrypted file along with the information such as, Task Name, Sensitive Data Type, Hit Count, AES Masked, and Incremental Scan.
