How to Create a Custom Detection Connection in RDBMS

The Custom Detection Connection allows user to create connection for different data sources which are not available in the default list. This process helps in establishing a connection between the controller and the data source. 


Following are the pre-requisites:

  1. Controller must be installed. For detailed information about the installation process, refer Install DSM Administrator in Linux and Install DSM Administrator in Windows.

  2. DgDiscover IDP must be Installed. It will enable the Detection feature in the product. To know more on to how install the IDP in Linux and Windows environment, refer Install DgDiscover IDP in Linux and Install DgDiscover IDP in Windows.

Steps to create Detection Connection

The following section of this page outlines the step-by-step of creating a custom detection connection in RDBMS.

  1. Login to the PK Protect application.

  2. In this step, you need to download the CDATA JDBC driver, copy the JDBC jar files and add the details of the data source in the GenericDetection.xml file. To know more on how to download CDATA JDBC drive, copy the jar files, etc, refer Add Custom Connection for Detection in RDBMS.

  3. Once, you have added the mandatory details. Now, go to RBDMS > Connection Manager > Connection. Click Add New Connection button on top of the screen. The custom data source and its details will appear in the Add New Connection screen.

  4. In this step, select the Location, Service and the Connection Details from given list. Now, fill in the details for the selected data source for which you need to create a connection. To know more about each field, refer Detection - RDBMS.

  5. Once connection is created, click Save button to save the details else click Cancel. Click Test button, to validate the connection.
