Postgres for Masking

There are two ways to configure PostgreSQL for masking. The first way is to execute a script. The alternate method is to add a pgcrypto extension in the database.

To configure the PostgreSQL IDP for data masking with a script:

  1. Login to the server hosting the database you want to mask using an administrator account with admin privileges.

*Note: The default username is “postgres”.

  1. Navigate to the DgSecure scripts folder located on this path:
    Opt/Dataguise/DgSecure/PostgreSQL/9.1/share/extension/pgcrypto--1.0.sql

  2. To enable masking, execute the script pgcrypto.sql.

To configure the PostgreSQL IDP for data masking with an extension:

  1. In pgAdmin right click on Extension and select New Extension option.

  2. Select pgcrypto extension from the option and add pgcrypto extension in the database.
