Social Security Numbers

This type masking generates fictitious social security numbers. It can be applied on both string and numeric datatype columns.

To apply Social Security Numbers masking, choose the following information:

  1. The Determine Generation Type panel display two options based on which a card format can be generated.

    1. There are three formats based on which a nine-digit social security number can be generated. By default, the Digits Only option is selected.

*Note: If the column datatype is numeric, then Digits Only option is available.

      1. Digits Only – If you select this option, a random nine-digit number is generated which is not separated by any special character such as dash or space. This option can be used in conjunction with the other two option i.e., Random Numbers and Valid Numbers.

E.g., in the below image, the SSNO column contains a random social security number when a user opted for Digits Only option during masking process.

        `

      2. Space Separation – If you select this option, a random nine-digit social security number is generated which is separated by space. This option can be used in conjunction with other two options i.e., Random Numbers and Valid Numbers.

E.g., in the below image, the social security number in SSNO column is separated by the space.

      3. Dash Separation – if you select this option, a random nine – digit social security number is generated which separated by ‘-‘ (dash). This option can be used in conjunction with other two options i.e., Random Numbers and Valid Numbers.

E.g., in the below image, the SSNO column holds a random social security number which is separated by dash.

    2. Valid Numbers – If you select this option, then numbers are generated that could pass validation checks (i.e., numbers that follow the rules of allocation used by the Social Security Administration).

    3. Random Numbers – If you select this option, then this masking generates random numbers that follow the correct format but would not necessarily pass a validation check.
