State

This type of masking generates random state name and codes using which you can mask the actual data in the table. It can be applied only on the columns having string and numeric datatypes. A value for the state can be generated in any three case formats with conjunction to the State options, based on which a fake value is generated.

There are three options based on which a state code and name is generated in conjunction to Case Options. To know more about the Case Options, refer City.

The State Option panel has two options based on which a fake value is generated.

  1. State Name - This type of masking generates random state names, if applied. E.g., California, North Carolina etc. This type of masking can be used in conjunction with listed Case Options. By default, Title Case is selected when opting for State Name in State option.

E.g., with reference to the below image, the table displays the names of the state and there are few records for which the state name is missing. If you want to generate the state name in blank fields and mask the already generated data, then you can apply State masking option.

Here, we’ve opted Title Case option under Case Option in conjunction to State Name in State option. Based on this selection data will be generated.

On executing the task, the existing values are masked, and random values are generated for those fields in which, no data have been specified in the State column.

For Instance, the state for an emp_namePaki’ has been masked with value ‘Illinois’. Originally, the state of Paki was ‘Texas’. In the same way, the state for emp_nameHeartley’ was missing in dataset which is now masked to random value ‘Rhode Island’.

  2. State Code - Selecting this option generates the two-letter state code for the selected field. You can use this masking option in conjunction with any three Case Option. By default, the uppercase Case Option is selected when you opt for State Code option.

E.g., with reference to the below image, the table displays the codes of state and there are few records for which the state code is missing. If you want to generate the state code in blank fields and mask the already generated data, then you can apply State masking option.

Here, we’ve opted Uppercase option under Case Option in conjunction to State code in State option. Based on this selection data will be generated.

On executing the task, the existing values are masked, and random values are generated for those fields in which, no data have been specified in the State column.

For Instance, the state for an emp_cd105’ has been generated with value ‘IL’ (Illinois). Originally, the state for emp_cd ‘105’ was missing. In the same way, the state code for an emp_cd106’ was ‘Ga’ originally which is now masked to random value ‘MT’.
