The flag SL (Stateless), yield results like Persistent without creating reference tables. Stateless masking is an algorithm-based masking so by using a unique SL key or a unique Global domain value masking on any database in the domain will invariably provide similar results for identical entries. This option eliminates the need for extra space required for creating persistent tables and can be conveniently deployed on databases, with little effect on the processing time.
The option persistent, can be used to maintain a backend signature of masked entries and is ideal for small databases, while Stateless can be used on small and large databases irrespective. Stateless is also used for masking data incrementally. This flag is available in RDBMS and RDS.
