Smartcrypt for iOS connects your iOS device to your Smartcrypt account allowing you to encrypt and decrypt files on the go.
Log In on Mobile
At the log in prompt, enter the email and password associated with your Smartcrypt account. This will sync your account with Smartcrypt Manager implementing the policies associated with your account as well as deliver all of your keys securely to your device.
Decrypt an Attachment from an Email
|In the iOS mail application, locate the email that contains the encrypted attachment. Select the attached zip archive.|
|Once within the zip archive, select the Export icon in the bottom left corner of the screen. This will produce a pop-up menu with various export options.|
|Select Import with Smartcrypt icon in the pop-up menu. You may have to scroll through the first row of options to find the icon. This will direct you to the Smartcrypt application.|
Decrypt a File from a Cloud Provider
In order to decrypt an archive from a cloud provider, go to the cloud provider on your device and select the file you wish to decrypt. For instance, this user is going to decrypt the archive, OwnSmartkey.zip, from Dropbox.
Once you have selected the archive you wish to decrypt, press the three dot icon on the top right hand corner of your screen (highlighted in the picture on the left). This will reveal a drop down menu.
|Within the drop down menu pictured to the left, select Export. This will produce a pop-up menu.|
|Within the pop-up menu, select the Open in icon. Another similar pop-up menu will appear.|
|Select Import with Smartcrypt. This will open the encrypted archive in Smartcrypt. If you do not have your password saved, you may have to enter your password to access the archive in Smartcrypt.|
Encrypting From Photos
|Navigate to the photo(s) you wish to encrypt. Shown to the left are the two methods of selecting photos. Select desired photo(s) and press the Export icon in the bottom left hand corner of your screen. This will prompt a pop-up menu with various options.|
|Select the Smartcrypt Encrypt icon in the lower left of the screen. This will prompt another menu with encryption options for the archive.|
|On this menu, give your archive a name and select which type of encryption you would like to use. In the mobile application, you may encrypt with a password, Smartkey and/or sign with a certificate. When you are finished, click Accept in the top left hand corner of the screen.|
|Now you will see the same menu with all of your selected settings in place. Click Done on the top left hand corner of the screen.|
|If you navigate to the Smartcrypt application, your new archive will appear in your favorites, now encrypted.|
Encrypting from Cloud Providers
|Navigate to the file or photo you wish to encrypt from your cloud provider. The picture on the left shows a photo stored in Dropbox. Press the three dot icon in the top right corner of your screen to reveal a drop down menu.|
|Within this menu, select the Export option.|
|Within this menu, select the Open In icon.|
|This will reveal a similar pop-up menu. Now, press the Smartcrypt Encrypt icon. This will direct you to a menu with encryption options for the archive.|
|Select the way in which you wish you encrypt your archive. You may encrypt with a password, Smartkey, and/or sign with a certificate. Give your archive a name and select Accept in the top left hand corner of your screen.|
|A similar menu appears with all of your settings in place. Click Done in the top left corner of the screen.|
|The file, now encrypted, should appear in your favorites folder.|
Once you select a file to be shared, the archive automatically opens. Then you must press Back shown on the left.
If the archive has more than one file, than no file will automatically open. In this case, pressing Back is not necessary since your menu will already look like the picture below.
|Select the Export button at the top right of the screen to reveal a pop-up menu which contains various options as to how you can share the archive.|
|Select an option for sharing the archive from the pop-up menu that appears.|
Turn Remember Password on so the switch is green. This allows you to leave the Smartcrypt application, do other activities on your phone for a significant period of time, and return to Smartcrypt without having to login repeatedly.
Log Off on Mobile
|To logout of Smartcrypt on mobile, you must unlink your account. Press Unlink Account within the Settings Menu. This will cause a pop-up menu to appear.|
|Select Unlink to fully unlink your account. Unlinking your account will remove your archives stored in Favorites; however, it does not permanently delete the archives as long as they are stored in another location.|
