Contingency Keys
Contingency keys enable an organization to decrypt files encrypted by anyone in the organization, whether the files were passphrase-encrypted or were encrypted for specific recipients. Contingency keys are a safeguard to be sure that important information belonging to the organization does not become inaccessible because no one in the organization can decrypt it.
Note: Contingency keys must use RSA-2048 (or stronger) encryption.
The Contingency Keys page lists the certificates for any contingency keys in use. Except for the View Certificate button, which displays information about a selected certificate, controls on the page are disabled. You do not manage contingency keys from Smartcrypt directly.
