Set How to Update Files When Extracting
When your system already contains versions of files in an archive, you may—or may not—want to replace these files only with newer versions, and you may, or may not, want to extract files from the archive that you do not already have. The options you set determine which selected archive files are actually extracted.
To set how PK Protect updates files on your system from an archive:
- From the Application Menu, click Options.
- Click the Extraction page.
- Select one of the following settings from the Extract mode drop-down menu:
Setting | What It Means |
---|---|
Extract all files | Extracts all selected files, including older versions of files that are already in the destination folder. If the Overwrite setting is Prompt user, PK Protect asks before overwriting newer files already in the folder. |
Freshen existing files only | Only extracts files that are newer versions of files already in the destination folder. Replaces the older versions with the newer ones. Does not extract any files that do not already exist in the destination folder in an older version. |
Update existing and extract new files | Extracts selected files that are newer versions of files already in the destination folder; also extracts files that do not already exist in the destination folder. |
You can also set filters so that only files that are of a certain type or size or fall in a certain date range are extracted.
