KB - Authorization Required when logging into SMDS

Error

Authorization Required.

Causes

  • More commonly caused by an invalid password
  • A user account that does not exist
  • Not able to connect to Active Directory
  • You are not a member of a group that is allowed to log into the SMDS

Troubleshooting

Can the user log in with the local account?

Are there any errors in the error log that are related?

If not and they have access to the webconfig file, can they verify a local account is populated and has a password?
